THE SEARCH

Writer: Simon NyambatiSimon Nyambati

I have searched deeply in your heart,

To find the space you said to be mine.

I have cut through your skull,

To know if I was ever in your mind.

I have sliced through your vein,

But my search is futile.

Yet it saddens me to see you this hurt.

That the bright future has fade,

Leaving me to bring the pieces together.

Look at the mess that we've made,

Relentlessly looking for what is now in vane.

Look now my love as I lay down with you,

To feel you once again.

To soak in the blood, sweat and tears.

To commemorate the years.

Look now my love gathering to see us is a crowd.

Tell them of our love that we're proud.

Look now my love that I am taken away from you,

To be stoned for your sake.

But if only they knew,

That even then I will still search deeply in your heart,

To find the space you promised to be mine.
